Austrians braved the cold last weekend for an automotive celebration on a lake. This time it was Zell am See, not Worhtersee.
Audi Formula E driver and heir to the legendary Abt family of Audi tuners, Daniel Abt was on-hand in his last season’s Formula E car, as was legendary rally driver Walter Rohrl in a Quattro, as well as Rene Rast in his RS5 DTM.
This was a super-nice weekend with a fantastic atmosphere and fantastic people,” said Daniel Abt. “It was the first time for me to drive a Formula E car on ice. A cool feeling! It was incredibly good fun – also seeing the fans when you set yourself up for the corners and then drift through them. I hope that I’ll have the opportunity to take part in the event again next year.”
It wasn’t all Audi drivers, though. Benedikt Mayr, an Audi sponsored skier, also donned his race suit to be towed behind Abt’s Formula E car.
“That was great. Now I’m looking forward to visit a Formula E race,” said Mayr.
