The just-released second-generation Audi Q3 crossover could be getting an RS model. And yes, that RS Q3 could be getting the only engine you want to see under the new angry hood. The 2.5L turbo-five from the TT RS.
The first-generation Q3 already got the RS treatment. It added that 306 hp inline five to the little Audi crossover. Of course, it never made it to the US.
Car and Driverreports that sources in Ingolstadt have good news for North American buyers. The RS Q3 is returning. And this time it’s getting even more power. The roarty inline five will make at least 400 hp, sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch box.
Expect big upgrades to support that engine. Both in the chassis and in the looks department. After all, it’ll need a handling and braking upgrade to handle that power boost and there’s no point in having a 400 hp cute-ute if nobody can tell from the outside.
The plan for this one includes a trip to the US, C/D says. Here it’ll take on the ageing boy racer Mercedes-AMG GLA 45.
