When you consider that the Audi R8—along with its sister car, the Huracan—is the last V10-powered car on the road, it starts to look more and more like a panda: endangered and not that likely to reproduce. So it shouldn’t come as a shock that the rumors are again swirling that an electric supercar is coming to replace it.
, which cites uncredited sources from within Audi as claiming that a three-motor, 650 hp, all-wheel-drive e-tron with a 0-60 time of fewer than two seconds is set to replace the aging R8.
Of course, this is all a few years down the road—no fewer than three years before the technology even becomes available to Audi, according to CAR—so even if the report is accurate, Audi could be blowing smoke.
